Project Description
This is a farmhouse styled home with a timeless design and material pallet. Our studio was hired to design a custom home in a rural area of Hopkinton, Rhode Island that both fit the location but also created a sense of country side living on an undeveloped parcel of land. The client was interested in functionality and flow between the spaces, the feel of an open floor plan/living/kitchen, while giving enough privacy for its occupants. The end result is a tasteful home focused around symmetrical forms with a sense of function for improved everyday life.

Upon entering the home, the first noticeable feature is a grand double-height foyer with an open railing staircases leading to the upper story. As you walk into the main living space, you’ll notice an wide open layout combining the kitchen, living room, and dining area into a single cohesive space.
Attached to the kitchen on the left is a mudroom consisting of a dog washing station specially designed for the owners' pets. The mudroom leads directly to the two-car garage and the back porch. Located off the kitchen is a large walk-in pantry and a comfortable reading nook. The rest of the ground floor consists of a large home office, a guest bedroom, and a full bathroom.

Hopkinton Residence - Proposed Second Floor Plan
Arriving at the second-floor level of the home, you are greeted by a balcony which overlooks the foyer. The second floor consists of the laundry room, two spacious bedrooms, a full-size bathroom, and a master suite.
The master suite contains a spacious bedroom, walk-through closet, and a master bathroom located over the garage. The master closet provides custom storage configurations on each side for each user with a shared island in the center. The skylights allow for natural light to illuminate the space while maximizing closet storage room. Located adjacent to the closet is the master bathroom which maximizes natural light. This bathroom has a walk-in shower, soaking tub, toilet, and double vanity. Many of the features which have been incorporated into the design of the home bring a sense of luxury to an overall modest design aesthetic.
