Historic Restoration give old existing properties new life
One of the challenges of working on historic properties is the irregularity of the design aspects of each building. Most historic homes do not have preserved drawings for reference, so much of the measurements and determinations for the building must come from field verification.
Historic properties built prior to the early1900s were often built to codes that are now defunct or have been revised over the course of time. Because of this, many thermal and moisture protection barriers, as well as spatial clearances are not present.
Historic projects require the care and protection of all exterior aspects of the property, but interior aspects are allowed to be updated to modern standards at the wish of the client.
In our experience working on historic projects in New England ,we have come across many homes and properties that tell stories connecting them to both the surrounding landscape and previous owners. It is our job to ensure that these properties are maintained for many more years to come.
At the beginning of a new historic project, we will visit the site to perform an initial measure up of the property and use the sketches / photos to create a comprehensive drawing set including 2D and 3D representations of the home.
